Zapata: “Happy to keep scoring, well done to the team”
Duvan Zapata cut a satisfied figure after his goal set Sampdoria on their way to a thrilling 3-2 win over champions Juventus on Sunday.
“This is a huge win,” said the Colombian after the game. “It was a great performance from us. We were up against it at times, but we got the win. We did well to take our chances – well done to my team-mates.”
Zapata’s goal was the fifth of his Sampdoria career, making this his best-ever start to a season.
“It’s a great feeling,” he said. “I didn’t even see where the ball came from, but I attacked it when it came to me and it went in. I’m really pleased with my relationship with the fans. I hope to keep breaking out the celebration!”
The striker insisted that the win over the champions would send out a message to the rest of Serie A.
“From now on teams will look at us in a different way,” he said. “We’re really proud, but it’s only going to get more difficult from here. Now we need to prepare for Bologna.”
