Quagliarella, the veteran who can’t stop scoring: “It’ll be tough to get me out of the team”
Fabio Quagliarella just keeps going. The 34-year-old now has 62 Serie A goals in 107 appearances for Sampdoria, with six of those strikes coming since August. That’s what you call maturing with age.
What’s his secret? “I have to show people it’ll be hard to get me out of the team!”
Unfortunately, however, his goal against Inter wasn’t enough for Samp to complete their second-half fightback.
“It’s a shame we conceded that third goal at the start of the second half because otherwise we could have turned it around – as we almost did at the end.
“There’s no shame in losing at San Siro, though. We’re pleased we showed we can mix it with anyone.
“I love playing at San Siro – it’s one of my favourite grounds – and it’s nice to score here but I’m much happier when it counts for something.”
The goal may not have been enough to claim any points, but Fabio found a good use for it anyway: “I’ll dedicate the goal to my mum as it’s her birthday today.”
