Back to work with a double session and plenty of absentees

Marco Giampaolo and his staff began preparations for the home game against Atalanta by running a double session earlier after affording the squad two days off. Joachim Andersen, Bartosz Bereszynski, Dawid Kownacki, Karol Linetty and Duvan Zapata are all away on international duty meanwhile.

The morning session focused on strength work in the gym and sprints, starting and stopping and changing direction on the pitch. After lunch the players worked on drills in tight spaces to develop ball possession with numbers down and three-team training games.

The group will train just once on Thursday and the session will not be open to fans due to health and safety provisions relating to the ongoing refurbishment work at the training ground.
