Alvarez wins over the fans with instant impact: “Never lost faith”

All it took was 22 seconds for Ricky Alvarez to come on, pick up the loose ball and beat Donnarumma to seal the three points over AC Milan.

“As soon as I came on, I latched onto the ball after the opposition gave it away and I fired it into the corner. It felt great,” revealed the attacking midfielder to Samp TV post-match. “The most important thing is the team’s performance though. We matched them for 90 minutes and once again proved what a united squad we have.”

The Argentine never lost faith even when his performance levels didn’t match expectation. “As footballers we know there are peaks and troughs,” said Alvarez. “I kept my head down and focused on working hard.”

Ricky finished by looking ahead to the Udinese match. “It’s easy to get up for games against AC Milan but we need to make sure we approach our next match with the same intensity.”
