Quagliarella: “Great defensive display and morale-boosting win”
Three goals in the first two league fixtures – a first for Fabio Quagliarella. Like wine, he seems to get better with age.
“You can always find fresh motivation, no matter how old you are,” the 34-year-old told Samp TV after the match.
“We did well today, especially [Christian] Puggioni and our defence. Fiorentina is always a tough place to come and winning here gives us a boost for the rest of the season.”
Samp are flying high after taking six points from their first two games, but the veteran striker nonetheless feels the international break will do them good.
“It gives the new lads a chance to get to grips with what the boss wants and it’s useful to top up our energy levels, especially as we start again with a very tough game after the break.”
