Sampdoria to visit Swansea on 5 August
Here’s another date for your diaries – especially if you’re a Sampdoria fan in the UK. Today it was confirmed that Marco Giampaolo’s side will play Swansea at Liberty Stadium on Saturday 5 August.
Three days after facing Manchester United at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, the Blucerchiati will hop across the Irish sea to South Wales, where Paul Clement’s men will be waiting for them. The match is due to kick off at 15:00 BST (16:00 CEST).
Founded in 1912, the Swans were promoted to the Premier League in 2011/12 and came under American ownership in the summer of 2016.
After struggling in the first half of 2016/17 under former Udinese boss Francesco Guidolin and American coach Bob Bradley, the club appointed Paul Clement in January with the team in the relegation zone. Clement successfully steered the Swans to safety (they eventually finished 15th) and was subsequently nominated for Premier League manager of the season.
Former Juventus striker Fernando Llorente was Swansea’s top scorer last season with 15 goals.
