Regini rues loss of focus and bad luck in Chievo draw
Speaking after Sampdoria’s draw at home to ChievoVerona, Vasco Regini, who captained his side on the day, highlighted the shortcomings that led to the away side’s equaliser.
“We paid for one of our few losses of focus. [Roberto] Inglese scored a good goal though,” the defender said.
“After the equaliser, we tried to win the game, but we lacked a bit of zip and ruthlessness in the final third. On a few occasions, we were a bit unlucky too, such as when [Lucas] Torreira hit the post.”
With the latest result following a run of indifferent performances, Regini added: “Clearly in the last few games, we’ve not reached the same level we have in others, certainly in terms of points gathered.
“However, we still want to hold onto tenth position in the league and we’ll do all we can to get there. Today, we tried to win in any way we could. As I said, with a bit of good luck, we could have done better.”
