Football Data: Sassuolo v Sampdoria stats
We’ve teamed up with Football Data, Italy’s leading football statistics provider, to bring you the key facts and figures on the Blucerchiati’s trip to Sassuolo on Saturday.
Sassuolo without a win. Sassuolo have never beaten Sampdoria in five home games against the Blucerchiati. Samp have beaten the Neroverdi away once (the 2-1 win in the 2013/14 season) and drawn four times, the last of which was a 0-0 draw in the 2015/16 campaign.
Giampaolo edges it. Saturday will be the fourth competitive meeting between Eusebio Di Francesco and Marco Giampaolo as coaches. The home coach has won in each of the three meetings so far, with Giampaolo shading it 2-1.
One defeat in ten for Samp. Sampdoria are in fine fettle as the league draws to a close, with the Blucerchiati losing just one of their last ten matches – the 1-0 defeat at home to Juventus on 19 March. Doria have won six and drawn three apart from that game. Away from home, Samp are unbeaten since 22 January, when they went down 1-0 to Atalanta in Bergamo (three wins and one draw on the road since then).
Sassuolo slump. Sassuolo are without a win in six games, having lost four and drawn two since their last three points, which came in a 2-1 win at Udinese on 19 February. The Neroverdi haven’t won a home game since 15 January, when they beat Palermo 4-1. They’ve lost all four of their matches at Mapei Stadium since then.
Super sub Schick. Patrick Schick has come off the bench 18 times this season, making him the most-used sub in Serie A alongside Udinese’s Stipe Perica.
Samp scorers. Sampdoria have had the fewest different scorers in Serie A 2016/17 after 31 rounds of matches. Only seven Doria players have found the net: Ricky Alvarez, Edgar Barreto, Bruno Fernandes, Luis Muriel, Dennis Praet, Fabio Quagliarella and Patrik Schick.
Goals from the bench. Sampdoria have had more goals scored by substitutes than any other team this season, with ten. Patrik Schick has scored six, Bruno Fernandes three and Ricky Alvarez one.
Referee. Luca Pairetto will be the man in charge on Saturday. Sassuolo have won four, drawn one and lost two of their seven matches under Pairetto, while Samp have won one and lost one from two games overseen by the official.
