Puggioni on penalty save: “It’s an incredible feeling – I dedicate it to my kids”
The Doria faithful were treated to the latest fairy-tale moment in Christian Puggioni’s extraordinary season on Sunday after the veteran keeper – and lifelong Samp fan – saved a penalty in front of the Sud.
“It’s tough to put my feelings into words,” said Puggioni after the game. “I want to dedicate the save to my children. Mchedlidze hasn’t played much, so I wasn’t really able to study his penalties. My experience and his posture helped me to guess where he was going to put it.”
Puggioni acknowledged that it had been a tough game against Empoli at Marassi.
“Empoli are a solid side. They’re very well organised and it was vital that we gauged their movement early in order to target their weak spots. If we’d had a little bit more luck, I’m sure we would have got the three points, despite it not being the greatest of games.”
