Following Thursday’s match against Udinese, Marco Giampaolo has given the team a week off to enjoy Christmas with their families.

With their batteries recharged, the players will report back to the Centro Sportivo Mugnaini for their next training session on the afternoon of Thursday 29 December.

Sampdoria’s South American contingent have been granted a few extra days to make up for all the time spent travelling and will resume training on Monday 2 January.

The first competitive fixture of the new year sees Samp travel to the Stadio San Paolo on Saturday 7 January for a 20:45 CET kick-off against Napoli.

Meanwhile Jacopo Sala has undergone tests after being forced off late in the game against Udinese due to injury. The tests revealed a strain of the myotendinous junction in his left calf.
