Puggioni positive on Samp development after Udinese display
While clean sheets may not make for a rip-roaring contest, it is always a positive if you happen to be a goalkeeper. Christian Puggioni can now count three games this season in which he has not conceded, after last night’s 0-0 draw with Udinese at the Marassi.
Speaking after the game, the Samp keeper had this to say about the team’s performance: “This is how we develop. We’ve got one of the youngest squads in the league and we’re doing well. Today we let them break forward a few times, but we put in a robust display. The difficulty was finding space against a stubborn opponent, who stayed tight.”
At the age of 35, Puggioni will no doubt feel like one of the elder statemen within the Doria ranks. The Samp number one is positive on this young group’s development: “The boys are continually improving; they keep building confidence, it’s a great base for next year.”
As for his own contribution, he said: “I’m a professional and I’m always available to offer my services. I’d assess my season positively, setting aside one or two errors which can always happen.”
