Two-goal Schick reacts to Samp win: “Delighted to qualify for the next round”

Patrik Schick cut a delighted figure after his brace helped Sampdoria sink Cagliari at Marassi to seal a Coppa Italia quarter-final berth on Wednesday night.

“It’s always nice to score,” the Czech striker told Samp TV after the game. “I’m pleased with the two goals, but most of all because we got the win. The whole team is made up because it was really important that we qualified for the next round.”

The brace takes Schick’s tally in Italian football up to three goals – after his strike against Juventus a few weeks ago – and the forward acknowledged that finding the back of the net is no mean feat in Serie A.

“Italian football is very difficult for strikers,” said Schick. “All of the teams defend really well so it’s hard to score. This has been a great evening – I’m still young and I still need to gain some experience. I have a great relationship with my team-mates, both on and off the field. I love it here at Samp.”
