Giampaolo focuses on Cagliari clash: “Competitive side to go through”
Sampdoria will be back in cup action tomorrow. Cagliari visit the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Wednesday night in the fourth round of the Coppa Italia. While keen to stress the importance of the competition, Marco Giampaolo revealed that he intends to shuffle his pack: “It will be an opportunity, a competitive match and a chance to have a clearer assessment of certain players that haven’t featured as much thus far,” began the coach.
Although never one to shirk video analysis of the opposition, the Blucerchiati boss wouldn’t be drawn on the current situation in Sardinia. “I don’t know what side Rastelli will pick and I’m not aware of what’s going on inside the club,” he admitted to Samp TV. “I’m focused on my team because I want to achieve our aim of improving whilst maintaining an attentive, competitive squad.”
“We will rotate the team a touch to be competitive in terms of our energy levels and ability because we want to go through,” concluded the coach. “I expect a good game because there’s a lot at stake. Knockout football suits me down to the ground. The Coppa Italia is a great showcase and that’s why everyone needs to be involved.”
