Giampaolo: “Fantastic effort, but it’ll be even tougher against Crotone”
Marco Giampaolo lauded his Sampdoria side after they roared back from 2-0 down to beat Sassuolo 3-2 at Marassi on Sunday.
“We didn’t deserve to be two goals down because the match was quite even. It was a wonderful feat,” said the Blucerchiati boss after the game. “The team never lost focus, even when we were behind. The fans dragged us to victory.”
The Doria boss insisted that Samp had got nothing more than they deserved against Sassuolo.
“In that last period we got the joy we deserved to get much earlier on. These results boost your morale and your confidence, both on an individual and team basis. The players need to demand even more from themselves so they can keep improving.”
Despite the win, Giampaolo was keen to stress that there were many more challenges to come for his side.
“We need to keep our heads down and work hard on getting better and better. As I’ve said, we’ve not achieved anything yet. It’s going to be even tougher against Crotone.”
