Quagliarella happy to repay the fans with Inter winner

Fabio Quagliarella revealed he felt he had repaid the fans for missing a penalty in the derby with his match-winning strike against Inter.

“It’s a hugely important goal which I want to dedicate to the fans but also to all the people who are suffering in central Italy,” the veteran striker began.

“It was the perfect night. We got the win, played really well and I scored – I couldn’t have asked for more.

“Scoring was my way of making it up to the fans for missing that penalty in the derby. But the main thing is we won both games. It was nice to be applauded at the stadium. I’ve always had a good relationship with our fans.

“The league table is starting to look interesting now but we have to take things one game at a time.”
