Giampaolo revels in Inter win: “Credit to these players”
After six points in a week at Marassi – in the derby and now against Inter – Marco Giampaolo understandably cut a satisfied figure on Sunday night.
“Beating Inter is a great achievement and it doesn’t happen often,” the coach began in his post-match media duties. “I’d never beaten them before and I have my players to thank for this win.”
It has to be said though that Giampaolo’s Samp outthought and outplayed Frank de Boer’s Inter.
“We prepared for the game by concentrating on a few specific details. We needed to focus and plays lots of forward balls up to our strikers and Fernandes.
“Bruno is adapting well to the team. He needed a bit of time to get to grips with our playing system after coming back from the Olympics. He and [Ricky] Alvarez are both important players for us.”
