Giampaolo hails support from fans and never-say-die attitude against Palermo

Marco Giampaolo was full of praise for his players, who kept pushing until the very end this afternoon and were rewarded with a last-minute equaliser against Palermo at home.

“We managed to score this goal thanks to our mentality of never giving up until the final whistle,” the Blucerchiati coach declared. “The incessant support from the Marassi also had a huge say in the result.”

“Palermo barely had a shot on goal, so no one is to blame,” Giampaolo added. “We created a lot of chances and kept our opponents in their half of the pitch. I hope this last-minute goal boosts our self-belief because we need to play calmly and with enthusiasm.”

The roar from the crowd when Bruno Fernandes’ thunderbolt hit the back of the net was a sight to behold and Samp’s head coach thanked the supporters for sticking by the players.

“It’s always nice to have the support of the crowd. After four losses in a row, this show of belief reinforces what we’re doing. Evidently the fans have understood that we’re taking our work seriously and right now we’re being punished in terms of points but not for how we tackle games.”
