Alvarez: “The fans spurred us on, now we need to keep it up”

Ricky Alvarez has thanked the fans for their support in Sampdoria’s 2-1 win over Atalanta on Sunday.

“The support from our fans was really important,” Alvarez told Samp TV after the game. “If we stick together then I’m sure we can have a great season.”

The Argentine midfielder also praised his team-mates’ performance at Marassi.

“It was important to start well at home, in front of our fans. We were up against a tough side and they made us work hard, but we weathered the early storm. Winning breeds enthusiasm.”
