Samp ease to victory over the Primavera in Acqui Terme friendly

Sampdoria took on the Primavera at the Stadio Ottolenghi in Acqui Terme, emerging victorious in the friendliest of friendly matches. More than 2,000 Samp fans, some locals and others which made the trip from Genoa, watched as the players offered up some positive signs to Marco Giampaolo and his staff.

Playing in their usual 4-3-2-1 formation, the Blucerchiati moved through the gears, trying to put what they have learned in pre-season into practice, but had little joy. Ciccio Pedone’s men stayed well organised and were well in the game, up until the 40-minute mark. Cassano broke the deadlock, with Linetty doubling Samp’s advantage just before the break.

For the second half, Giampaolo made wholesale changes and only Skriniar stayed on, in the centre of defence. Quagliarella was paired with Muriel in attack and it was the Colombian who bagged Sampdoria’s third of the game. His strike partner took a little longer to find his range, before scoring a delightful fourth goal. Players on both sides were met with warm applause at the final whistle.
