Banca Ifis becomes U.C. Sampdoria main sponsor

Banca Ifis is to be U.C. Sampdoria’s main sponsor for the 2021/22 season.

It means the banking group, which was the club’s second-jersey sponsor for the final games of the 2020/21 season, will now adorn the famous Sampdoria kit in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, 30 years after the Blucerchiati’s historic Scudetto triumph of 1991.

Banca Ifis will also appear on the shirts of Sampdoria Women as they embark on their maiden Serie A campaign.

“This partnership with U.C. Sampdoria is a homecoming for our bank as it was in Genoa – the city where I was born – that it all began, nearly 40 years ago,” explained Banca Ifis vice-president Ernesto Fürstenberg Fassio.

“It is an opportunity for us to strengthen both our bond with a city and a region that are important for our business, as well as with the community of Blucerchiati fans.

“This agreement also underlines Banca Ifis’ commitment to promoting sport and the sporting values that Sampdoria represent, such as perseverance, team spirit and respecting opponents.”

“It is a source of great pride both for me and for Sampdoria that Banca Ifis has chosen to appear on the most beautiful shirt in the world,” said U.C. Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero.

“A credit institution provides substance while football provides joy: together they can be a winning combination for both our men’s and women’s teams.

“I want to thank vice-president Ernesto Furstenberg Fassio and all his staff for believing so strongly in Sampdoria.”

The sponsorship will see the logo take pride of place in the middle of the shirt which has on multiple occasions been named the most beautiful shirt in the world.

The name of the bank, which specialises in providing financial aid to small and medium businesses, will also feature on the training kit of the men’s and women’s first teams, as well as on pitchside hoardings, on backdrops and displays and in adverts.

In addition, the agreement will offer engagement opportunities and experiences for the bank’s employees and their families, visibility on and off the pitch and opportunities to relate to the Genoese and Ligurian area where Banca Ifis is deeply rooted, having been founded in Genoa in 1983 by current president Sebastien Egon Furstenberg.
