Sampdoria v Fiorentina postponed following bridge disaster
Lega Serie A has agreed to postpone Sampdoria v Fiorentina and AC Milan v Genoa in the wake of the Morandi Bridge disaster on Tuesday.
Both Sampdoria and Genoa had appealed to the league president for the games to be postponed, with Fiorentina and AC Milan supporting the request.
Sampdoria v Fiorentina had been due to be played on Sunday 19 August at 20:30 CEST. A new date and time for the match will be made public in due course.
A minute’s silence will be observed before all other Serie A Week 1 games this weekend, with all teams set to play wearing black armbands as a mark of respect for the victims.
