Soriano joins Villarreal and leaves farewell message

U.C. Sampdoria can confirm that Roberto Soriano has joined Villarreal C.F. on a permanent transfer.

President Massimo Ferrero and everyone at the club would like to thank Roberto for his professionalism and the commitment he has always shown to the Samp cause. We wish him every success for the rest of his career.

Before leaving Italy this morning, the midfielder left the following message:

Ciao Sampdoria!

I want to thank all of you, for everything.

I joined Samp when I was just a boy – a young footballer looking to find his path in the game. I leave the club a grown man and a professional footballer thanks to Sampdoria and the fans who have shown me so much affection down the years.

I’ve been though good times and bad with you – the club, the coaches, my team-mates, the staff who work at the training ground and club headquarters, the people of Genoa – and now I embark on a new adventure stronger, more determined and more experienced, with the joy of having been the first Doria captain to score a brace in the derby. I leave with some truly wonderful memories.
