Klinsmann on Samp spell: “Fantastic memories of the fans and the city”
The Philipp Plein Cup did not just bring so many fond memories flooding back for Samp fans, but also for Jurgen Klinsmann, who is currently working as a technical consultant in North America. While the striker is famous for his spells at Stuttgart, Inter, Bayern and Tottenham, if you look closely, you will see that Monaco and Sampdoria are also on his illustrious list of former clubs.
The friendly in Monte Carlo was a fantastic opportunity for the German to see two of his former teams in actions. Although he did not have much of a chance to shine with the Blucerchiati (two goals in ten appearances), Klinsmann still holds fond memories of his time in Genoa. “It was a rather short spell in Genoa, but I had a very positive experience. It’s a beautiful city and the fans are brilliant. I’d like to wish all the Samp fans a very happy birthday.”
