Liam Brady: “I have great memories of my time at Sampdoria”
Liam Brady spoke of his deep affection for Sampdoria as he sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Samp TV after returning to Marassi – the stadium where he plied his tried for two years between 1982 and 1984 – to watch his old team recently.
“I don’t often get emotional but it was an amazing feeling to come back and see Sampdoria play at Marassi after so long,” said the former attacking midfielder.
During the interview, Brady – who made 71 appearances and scored six goals for Samp – looked back on the circumstances that led to him joining the Blucerchiati.
“At first it wasn’t easy to accept my departure from Juventus,” he admitted, “but when I met president Paolo Mantovani I could see his ambition straight away. We got off to a great start, beating Juve on the first day of the season, and we had plenty of other good times too. I have wonderful memories and the fans still have a lot of affection for me – that’s why it’s always a pleasure to come back here.”
