Sampdoria join the ‘Quarta Categoria’ initiative, promoting football for disabled people
A new Sampdoria team is ready to take to the field. A.S.D. Divertime Sport, a football team for disabled people, will wear the Blucerchiati jersey when they compete in the ‘Quarta Categoria’ league.
Encouraged by the Lega Serie A and in keeping with the wishes of club president Massimo Ferrero, Sampdoria has ‘adopted’ the Genoa-based side, which is made up of players with learning difficulties and relational disabilities. The Blucerchiati will follow the team as they participate in the 7-a-side tournament, scheduled for 21 October, which will also feature Genoa, Spezia, Virtus Entella and Alessandria.
The Divertime players were presented with official equipment, donated by Sampdoria, including match kits and training kits, as well as tracksuits, bags and balls. The donations were handed over personally by a selection of their Samp team-mates.
Vasco Regini, Gianluca Caprari and Valerio Verre, accompanied by sporting director Carlo Osti, marked the beginning of this new partnership with a surprise visit, which was welcomed with great joy and excitement, as the players took photos and signed autographs. The new adventure is officially under way: good luck to Samp for Special!
