Campbell tells Samp TV: “Impressed with the Blucerchiati, nice work Giampaolo”

We were treated to a lovely surprise yesterday, as former Tottenham, Arsenal and England defender Sol Campbell attended the home game against Cagliari.

“A few friends of mine invited me to Genoa and, as a football lover, I made the most of my trip to take in a game,” the Englishman revealed exclusively to Samp TV.

“Sampdoria are a fantastic club with great history and stars like Gianluca Vialli and David Platt played here in the past. Plus there’s a passionate fanbase that really impressed me,” he continued.

“The gap between Serie A and the Premier League is mainly down to money,” he explained. “But Italian football is just as good in terms of passion and quality. That was the first time I’ve seen Sampdoria live and I enjoyed it. [Luis] Muriel is terrific and I already knew [Emiliano] Viviano because he played for Arsenal. I must say the coach, [Marco] Giampaolo, is very good indeed,” Campbell concluded.
