Euro 2016: Skriniar comes on in closing stages to secure third-place finish for Slovakia
Sampdoria defender Milan Skriniar was a second-half substitute as Slovakia held on for a 0-0 draw with England and kept themselves in with a shout of making the Euro 2016 knockout stages on Monday evening.
Skriniar came on to replace Vladimir Weiss in the 78th minute, helping Slovakia to keep out the English attack and secure a point.
With Wales beating Russia 3-0 and qualifying as group winners, Slovakia finish Group B in third on four points and have a good chance of making the last 16 as one of the best third-placed sides.
Skriniar’s appearance was the first by a Sampdoria player at the finals in France.
