Montella: “We’ll use this season to learn for the future”
Vincenzo Montella has called for Sampdoria to learn from this season to ensure a more successful future at Marassi.
“If we analyse what’s happened and the errors that have been made this season, it will make us stronger for coming years,” said Montella, speaking after Samp’s final-day loss at Juventus. “The directors, manager, coaching staff and players all need to learn from this season. We should remember these experiences – they should stay with us all.”
“We’ve ensured our Serie A status but it’s been three poor performances to finish the season. Juventus were better across the board today. We were 2-0 and a man down after ten minutes – it became a slow death after that. Today’s match kind of reflects our whole season. We need to turn it into something constructive for next year,” continued the Fiorentina coach.
Montella also addressed his own future: “I have a contract and over the next few days I’ll speak with the directors and we’ll try to improve the squad in every respect. I have a great relationship with Massimo Ferrero and Carlo Osti. We respect each other as professionals and people.”
