Montella: “Finish the season with dignity then think about next season”

“It’s been a tough week but we have to bounce back from it.”

Vincenzo Montella wants to put recent events behind him and look towards the future.

“After the derby we clarified a few things with the club in order to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again,” the coach explained in his last pre-match news conference of the season. “Both personally and professionally, I have a great relationship with President Ferrero.

“Let’s see if our ambitions and the practical necessities match. We will meet once the season is over.

“We mustn’t start next season from square one. There have been some positives this season: our expectations were higher but we hit 40 points, even if this squad deserves more. I want to end the season on a high note against Juventus.”

Finally, the Blucerchiati coach touched on the squad for tomorrow’s game: “Antonio Cassano didn’t feel well during the night. The call-ups for Primavera stars Giacomo Calo and Andres Ponce are a reward for their excellent seasons.”
