Sampdoria and Unicef come together to help kids in Genoa and Chad

U.C. Sampdoria and UNICEF were both founded in 1946 and what better way to celebrate their 70th birthdays than by working together to improve the plight of children around the world. The Blucerchiati have partnered up with the world’s leading organisation on children’s rights to support a charity project which brings together young people in Genoa and Chad.

The aim is to provide Genoa with a paediatric ambulance and secure healthcare for at least 5,000 kids in Chad, enabling them to survive the six deadly diseases (diptheria, whooping cough, measles, polio, tetanus and tuberculosis). UNICEF intends to achieve this in partnership of Sampdoria. Club president Massimo Ferrero will also involve the organisation in the celebrations of Sampdoria’s 70th anniversary.

To promote the collaboration, the Blucerchiati will wear a logo reading “UNICEF – 70 anni per ogni bambino” (70 years for every child) on their shirts in Sunday’s Derby della Lanterna against Genoa. A number of UNICEF volunteers will also attend the match, led by the organisation’s Italian president Giacomo Guerrera. The local healthcare authorities will detail the scheme and its fundraising initiatives.
