Montella: “We want to beat a big team for our fans”
Vincenzo Montella is eyeing a scalp. AC Milan arrive in town on Sunday night and Sampdoria are looking to take their first three points off a big team since September.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference, he said: “We want to win so that we can give the fans something to cheer about and make sure of our top-flight survival.”
The Rossoneri will roll up in Genoa with a new coach after Cristian Brocchi was appointed in place of Sinisa Mihajlovic this week.
“It did come as a bit of a surprise,” Montella admitted, “but football is constantly changing and full of surprises.”
The boss went on to discuss his attacking options and who could replace the suspended Andrea Ranocchia.
“Cassano won’t be involved because he has a slight muscle problem. Alvarez is ok though and Muriel deserves to play.
“In defence I still have to decide who will come in for Ranocchia. Silvestre is one option but I’d also like to see Skriniar, who is young and full of promise.”
