Montella: “Fair result but we could have won had we been more clinical”
It was obvious right from Friday’s press conference that Vincenzo Montella was only thinking of winning this game and that was highlighted further by his demeanour on the touchline. That said, emerging from a point at Empoli is not to be sniffed at.
“Both sides played well,” said the coach in the mixed zone post-match. “Empoli had the better of the opening 20 minutes, they were sharper and quicker. They deserved to take the lead but Quagliarella did well and we went in 1-0 up. We made a good start to the second half but weren’t clinical enough and we had a few scares late on. Ultimately I think it’s the fair result.”
