Montella not afraid of Napoli: “Get all three points at Marassi”

“I hope it will be an ugly game because that means Napoli will run into trouble, with little room to work their magic and hurt us.”

Vincenzo Montella began his pre-match press conference today with an ode to traditional Italian tactical scheming, as his Sampdoria side attempts to conjure up a way of stopping Gonzalo Higuain & Co.

“It will be difficult,” admitted the Blucerchiati boss. “We will have to cut off his supply lines.”

Samp are preparing to do everything in their power make life difficult for the league-leaders, hopefully with the addition of the new arrivals as well.

“We’ve got more options in attack with Ricky Alvarez,” continued Montella. “Dodo can lend us a hand too.

“We’ve also got Eder who is an absolutely fundamental player for us – not as much of an out-an-out striker as Higuain but still key to this team.

“We slipped up against Carpi, but the lads have reacted well by working hard. They’re angry and full of desire to pick up points.

“Our intention is to improve our league position.”
