Viviano determined to halt Juve’s Scudetto charge

While Roberto Soriano and Eder Citadin Martin bagged the goals as Sampdoria triumphed over bitter rivals Genoa in Tuesday’s Derby della Lanterna, much of the credit also goes to Emiliano Viviano for making some crucial saves. Two days on from that victory, the Blucerchiati shotstopper is still basking in post-derby glory but insists that attentions have been switched to Doria’s next obstacle in the form of reigning champions Juventus.

“Our derby win has filled the place with enthusiasm but we’re already focused on the next match against Juventus,” Viviano said ahead of Sunday night’s meeting at the Stadio Ferraris.

“They had a few slip-ups earlier on in the season but with the squad they have and their record they remain favourites for the title.

“If you look at their recent results, you see just how many matchwinners they have throughout the team but we’ll do our very best to stop them in their tracks.”
