Zenga post-match: “Here’s where we went wrong today”
Sampdoria head coach Walter Zenga is fully aware that the opportunity to pick up points against Frosinone was lost in the course of two manic minutes.
“We didn’t start the second half well and I cannot accept the way we conceded the second goal. We were all over the place defensively and you mustn’t allow that to happen. We saw a reaction after going 2-0 down but we couldn’t get ourselves back in the game.”
Commenting on his team’s line-up, the Blucerchiati boss revealed “we aimed for quality today, but we weren’t able to break the deadlock in the first half. We began the second half terribly, letting it two goals almost straight away. That cannot happen.
“We mustn’t undermine the quality we have in our game with laziness at the back. We should stay concentrated throughout the match and show more character, even when we’re trailing on the scoreboard.
“Antonio Cassano played well, as did a few other lads who played today.”
