Low on numbers for training in Bogliasco

The Blucerchiati squad got down to training this afternoon at the Centro Sportivo Mugnaini, minus the players who received call-ups for their national teams.

Roberto Soriano and Eder Citadin Martins are on duty with the Azzurri, while Algerian full-back Djamel Mesbah, Finnish centre-back Niklas Moisander and Bosnian defender Ervin Zukanovic will hope to pull on their countries’ shirts during the international break. David Ivan and Michele Rocca are also away with Slovakia U21 and Italy U20 respectively.

Sampdoria manager Walter Zenga and his coaching staff put the players who were available through a warm-up in the gym before focusing on technique and fitness drills out on the pitch.

On the injury front, Mattia Cassani, Lorenzo De Silvestri, Matias Silvestre, Lazaros Christodoulopoulos and Nenad Krsticic continued their individual recovery programmes. Joaquin Correa also trained separately after medical tests showed up a muscle strain that will require a few days of physiotherapy. Andrea Coda is still working on his return to fitness in Rome.

The guys will be back out for training tomorrow morning.
