Zenga disappointed: “Sorry to go out, but this shows we have a team of real men”
We should start by saying that engineering a turnaround in such circumstances was nigh on impossible. And yet Samp pulled out all the stops in their attempt to overturn that unexpected, crushing 4-0 defeat from the first leg.
“Our aim was to come here and produce a big performance,” Walter Zenga told the media after his side’s 2-0 triumph away at Vojvodina.
“We’re sorry about the second half in Turin. We learnt a lot from that and it will help us in future,” he continued.
“You never like going out of the cup but this shows we have a team of real men here. I’m sure success lies ahead.”
