Captain Palombo wants Europe proper: “We’re targeting the group stage”

Sat alongside Walter Zenga, captain Angelo Palombo spoke about his aim for the start of the season, ahead of Sampdoria’s European bow against Vojvodina: “We’ve prepared well for this match and there was no issue with beginning pre-season early. We’re targeting the group stage and we want to make it.”

Much of the talk over the past few days has surrounded team selection and the choice between Palombo and Nenad Krsticic. “I get on very well with him,” said the veteran midfielder. “I’m happy he’s back.
