Double portion at Pineta, Brignoli back between the sticks
Sampdoria are back in training at the Centro Sportivo Pineta in Pinzolo. After enjoying a day and half of rest, the Blucerchiati have got back down to their preparations ahead of the Europa League tie on Thursday evening in Turin.
The morning session concentrated on physical work (hill sprints and sand training) mixed in with practice matches on small pitches, while the squad went through a session on tactics and technique in the afternoon. The day’s work was wrapped up with another practice match on a reduced pitch, decided by a volley from Andrea Coda. Alberto Brignoli’s return in goal was the highlight of the day.
Nenad Krsticic didn’t take part in either session for family reasons, while Djamel Mesbah and Stefano Okaka have been given time off by the club. Alessandro De Vitis, Marco Marchionni and Niklas Moisander all had personalised sessions alternating between pitch and gym work. Christian Puggioni and Joaquín Correa, however, continued their own physiotherapy recovery programmes.
Tomorrow, 27 July, has one evening training session planned starting at 18:00 in Pinzolo.
