Back to work in Pinzolo after day off: focus on fitness in the morning, technical work in the afternoon

After enjoying a well-deserved rest on Monday, Sampdoria were back at Pinzolo’s Centro Sportivo Pineta to resume training today.

Walter Zenga – having returned from his scouting mission in Serbia to check up on Samp’s probable Europa League opponents Vojvodina – guided the Blucerchiati through the morning session, which saw the squad alternate strength work (in the sandpit and running uphill) and tactical drills (small-sided games on a short pitch).

The team reconvened on the field at 18:00 to get stuck into their second session of the day, with greater a emphasis placed on technique and tactics. After warming up, the players took part in a series of training games and shooting drills then ended with a match on a small pitch.

Niklas Moisander followed a personalised programme in the gym and on the pitch both in the morning and the afternoon, while Matias Silvestre carried out individual work in the afternoon.

Christian Puggioni and Joaquín Correa both had a double session with the physios today.

Djamel Mesbah has been given permission to leave Pinzolo and follow a separate programme elsewhere due to personal reasons.

The squad will meet up again for their next workout tomorrow afternoon.
