Sampdoria put eight past Val di Sole XI
Walter Zenga’s side signed off from Ponte di Legno in style with a comfortable 8-0 victory over a Val di Sole XI in their final friendly match of the opening phase of pre-season.
The first half was strangely void of action and ended goalless but at half time Zenga brought on Okaka in place of Krsticic and the three-pronged strikeforce wasted no time in cutting swathes through the opposition.
With new Brazilian signing Fernando watching on from the stands, Bonazzoli – who hit the post in the first half – finished with aplomb from Cassani’s cross before Eder and Ivan headed in goals number two and three.
That heralded a flurry of changes and it wasn’t long before youngsters Oneto (64) and Campaña (66) got their names on the score sheet, Wszolek then making it six of the best on 68 minutes.
Okaka completed the rout by helping himself to a late brace (78, 90), wrapping up a successful opening fortnight of pre-season.
The team will now enjoy a few days’ break before setting off for another training camp in Pinzolo on Tuesday 14 July.
Sampdoria line-up (4-3-1-2): Viviano (Brignoli 62); Cassani (Pereira 62), Silvestre (Salamon 62), Regini (Coda 62), Duncan (Mesbah 62); Ivan (Lulic 62), Palombo (Campaña 62), Barreto (Marchionni 62); Krsticic (Okaka 46); Bonazzoli (Wszolek 62), Eder (Oneto 62).
