Primavera: Samp battle back for 2-2 draw with Atalanta

Sampdoria Primavera battled back from a goal down to secure a 2-2 draw with Atalanta in a thrilling contest at the 3 Campanili in Bogliasco on Sunday.

There were plenty of chances but no goals in the first half, with the game exploding into life after the break.

Felice Tufano’s side found the breakthrough on 53 minutes, after Luca Polli helped on Gerard Yepes Laut’s cross for Luigi Aquino to stab home at the far post.

Doria’s lead was short-lived, though, as Atalanta equalised in fortuitous circumstances on the hour mark. Omar seemed initially to have been denied by the bar in the penalty box, but the ball bounced down off the unfortunate Matteo Esposito and into the back of the net.

And things went from bad to worse for Doria as Atalanta substitute Mannah Chiwisa pounced on a loose ball – following a stop from Esposito – to make it 2-1 to the visitors on 80 minutes.

This Primavera side is made of stern stuff, however, and they duly regrouped and went in search of an equaliser that eventually arrived in the 90th minute, when Lorenzo Malagrida found the net to salvage a point.
